UK CRIMINAL INJURY SOLICITOR ADVICE
We are an independent claims service, with no connection to the CICA, representing clients who have been the victims of violent crime. Our specialty claims service deals with CICA – Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority – claims on a risk-free basis. Our no win no fee claims process guarantees that you will not pay a penny if your application is not successful for any reason. You will not be charged for any fees which accrue during the claims process. Our expert representation focuses on providing you with vigorous and committed representation in order to ensure that you receive fair and equitable compensation for your injuries.
All of our solicitors are members of the Law Society panel of personal injury experts which is not open to anyone except those who can prove expertise in dealing with personal injury compensation claims. Successful applicants for panel membership must show detailed knowledge of the claims procedure and all associated law, must show that their office facilities and case management systems are adequate and that they have access to library facilities and have attended educational courses of continuing professional development that is appropriate to a personal injury specialist.
In addition to membership of the Law Society panel of personal injury experts our lawyers are also members of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) which is a legal accreditation organisation and in appropriate cases we call upon the services of solicitors recognized by ‘Headway’ the national head injury charity and by the Spinal Injuries Association.

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority consists of approximately 550 staff workers located in London and Glasgow dealing with claims for England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland has its own separate scheme based in Belfast. The scheme provides compensation for physical and mental injuries caused by crimes of violence and over £200,000,000 is distributed to over 70,000 applicants every year. In 1996 the tariff scheme was introduced whereby each individual type of injury is allocated a fixed amount for compensation.
In general, 90% of all claims received by the CICA are resolved within 12 months however in certain cases where a criminal trial is pending, and in cases involving future loss of earnings or other detailed evidence or calculations the process could take longer. The average length of time it takes for a claim to be completely processed is 8 months.
If the initial decision by the CICA is not satisfactory, the applicant can request that a senior case officer review the file. If the outcome of the review is also unsatisfactory an appeal can be made to an Appeals Panel, which is independent of the CICA.
